Here’s the last selfie with Keith at the end of my exhibition today. I’m doing my best impression of him and looking a little semi-wild myself, after a massive two weeks! Thanks to everyone that showed their support, it was an overwhelmingly great response, which I really do appreciate, it gives me confidence and motivation to keep doing what I love doing. I met so many people, heard so many stories, told so many stories and I really enjoyed it.
I hope you all took something away, I don’t mean physically took something away, it wasn’t about selling prints, for me it was just something I’ve always wanted to do and more about spreading the message of LIFE! I hope it makes people contemplate, hopefully about how they value “life” and to respect it. Life is a massive privilege! Earth is teeming full of life yet Earth is a minuscule part of an unconceivably infinite universe, which as a far as we currently know, does not harbour life anywhere else. Don’t you just find that amazing? We are just a pale blue dot “on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” As was, so elegantly put by the late, great Carl Sagan.
Every living thing on Earth has just as much right to live as you do, so respect all living things, starting with yourself.
I also hope my images have inspired some to get out and observe life, because no matter what it is, it’s all fascinating, photograph it, share it! Think more about the images you are composing, forget what others are doing, focus on what you love doing and don’t get too caught up in equipment and the technical side of things, although that can be fun too, it can restrict creativity.
That’s enough dribble from me, if you have purchased a print, thanks so much! I will be getting onto them tomorrow. If you weren’t able to make the exhibition, all good, they can all be seen on my website with descriptions joshbett.com
Lastly there were many comments about how Keith the Kangaroo looked painted and photoshopped on to the beautiful backdrop. So I feel compelled to share another image of Keith from that night, this one includes some more of the surrounds, so you can get a better idea of how it was captured. If you’ve been to see “Semi-wild Australia”, then it's likely that you know the story behind this image...A story that is a little embarrassing for me, but if you haven’t been yet, pop in tomorrow and I’ll be happy to embarrass myself some more 😅 It's the last day tomorrow, I’m closing at 2pm.
It was a big day today, nice to meet over 100 people from many other states, countries and walks of life! I don’t think many of you escaped without a story or two…or three :) I have a sore throat because I’ve never talked so much, but it’s totally worth it. Thanks everyone, bring on the last day!
The entrance to the E3 Art space can be accessed via the lagoon, just near the totem pole sculpture.
Cheers, jB ... See more
Here's one of my few visitors at the E3 Art Space this morning.
Be sure to drop by between 10am & 4pm and say hi before Semi-wild Australia closes on Sunday at 2pm. 😉
What do you do when things get quite at the gallery?...you take selfies of course.
Hey Aussie friends, did you know you can make your Easter egg gift far more purposeful by choosing to purchase a chocolate Bilby instead of a bunny?...it makes perfect sense; rabbits are an introduced pest here and number in their millions, which compete with bilbies for habitat and burrows.
By choosing a bilby you will be supporting the Save the Bilby Fund. They are available for purchase in big department stores such as Target Australia, MYER, David Jones, Australia Post and various other stores around Oz, just look for the green swing tag.
Also, make sure you swing by to see my exhibition “Semi-wild Australia” at the E3 Art Space at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery before this Sunday at 2pm…you need to save me from becoming a professional selfie photographer!
If you can’t make it to my exhibition you can see the works online at joshbett.com and please read more about Bilbies at savethebilbyfund.org
